Powell Street Festival programme
Significance
In the 1970s young Japanese Canadians began exploring their community’s historic roots in Canada through the creation of the Dream of Riches exhibit and other projects. They put on the first Powell Street Festival on June 11-12, 1976 in Oppenheimer Park, the historic centre of the pre-internment Japanese Canadian community. The programme listed events in English and Japanese.
