VMREU In Solidarity sign and buttons
Significance
Public service union activist John McElroy collected these buttons beginning about 1974 and used them to decorate a picket line sign for the Vancouver Municipal and Regional Employees’ Union (VMREU). McElroy wore this sign on picket lines and at rallies until he donated it to the Museum in 1995. In June 1995, members of the VMREU voted to join CUPE.
