Museum of Vancouver Appoints New Board Chair and New Member of the Board of Directors


Vancouver, B.C., Dec. 20, 2017 - The Board of Directors of the Museum of Vancouver (MOV) is pleased to announce the appointment of current Board member, Joan Young as Chair of the Board and welcomes Linda Morris to its Board of Directors.

Outgoing Board Chair, Jill Tipping will remain on the Board in the role of Past Chair.

“Jill Tipping has been an outstanding leader during her tenure as Chair of the Board,” said Young, noting that Tipping led the Museum through a period of growth and renewal including significant increases in attendance and revenue.

“I am honoured to succeed Jill as Chair and I am grateful for the Board’s confidence as we continue to advance its mission to inspire a socially connected, civically engaged city,” says Young.

Joan Young previously served as MOV’s Vice-Chair and Chair of Governance. She is a partner at McMillan LLP where she practices commercial litigation and is Co-Chair of Litigation.  

New Board member Linda Morris is former Vice-President of Business Development and Community Engagement at Vancity. She was CEO of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (BC/Yukon), Director of Public Affairs for the Vancouver Port Authority and Vice-President Communications and Community Engagement for Vancouver Coastal Health. She has also held senior positions at the National Science Museum and the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation and was Board Chair of the Vancouver Maritime Museum. She currently sits on the Board of Reconciliation Canada.
